Taipei Main Station is the biggest transport station in Taiwan, for railway, high speed rail and MRT. It made Taipei Main Station become a spot of high floating stream of people and transferring. At the same time of the advanced age, tendency to have fewer children and value added changed, it showed the pressing go-out needs of the elderly. Taipei Main Station had crossing 3D moving lines design, when the elderly faced the complicated transferring experience, they were easily getting confused even lost. Because of these reasons, the research tried to understand how elderly using the SIGN objects to find the destination and complete the wayfinding behaviors at the site. The real-site observation was taking in Taipei Main Station used references, elderly experiment and after-experiment interview. There were the main results as below. First, the elderly only watched the hanging type SIGN objects. Concluding the season why was this type of objects usually setting on the moving lines, people didn’t need to see around and waste time read the text. Second, the level of elder’s comprehension and attention ability were down, it made them used to reject to read the SING objects gather up areas. Third, there were over half of the elderly loved to ask the passerby when they feel lost. The research thought the rejecting feelings of the elderly made them think the fastest way to straighten out was ask. Fourth, there were several SIGN objects systems in Taipei Main Station and it increased the confused and unsecured feelings of the elderly. Fifth, the elderly couldn’t find the information of bus transferring site which meant the SING objects were useless for the needs of the elderly. At last, the light at site path were not bright enough and it caused the recognize problems when elderly doing wayfinding.
