The question of how much individuals would pay for better academic performance is a useful one that has important implications both for public policies toward education and for understanding the private returns to schooling. However, there has never been any empirical study to investigate the values of the academic performance and how important the grades are in terms of reflecting students’ academic performance in schools. We introduce a market for the academic scores and develop a price mechanism to reflect the students’ preference for the academic results. In this experiment, the average bidding price (shadow price) per point of the public economics is NT$66.7. The results show that the students’ behavior is rational, and complied with the economic theory.
