This paper illuminates theoretical dilemma between elistist and populist discourses on the transformation of meaning-inscription upon female body in folk relgions in Taiwan. Their failure can be attributed to their blindness to the question of gender. A gender-informed explanation illustrates the dilemma between moralization and commercialization of female body evidenced with the case of Electronic-Flower-Cart in Taiwan. The gener-political signifcance is further explored in the context of postmodern culture.
