The acidic methanol extract of flowers of Delonix regia were separated and fractionated by Amberlite XAD-7, Toyopearl HW-40F chromatographies, then isolated by HPLC to obtain two major anthocyanins. The isolated anthocyanins were identified as cyanidin-3-O-β-rutinoside and cyanidin-3-O-β-glucoside by the instrumental analysis. The antioxidative activities for the anthocyanins were measured by the ferric thiocyanate method. The result showed that both anthocyanins had antioxidative activity. The latter anthocyanin exhibited the same activity as that of α-tocopherol.
