Visitor management is an important issue in park management. It is often divided into two types: direct and indirect management strategies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which visitors accept each of the two management strategies, the relationship between environmental attitudes of park visitors and their acceptance of the management strategies, and the difference between parks adopting different management strategies in regard to visitors' acceptance of the strategies. The results revealed that visitors preferred the indirect management to the direct one. In addition, visitors' environment attitudes were significantly associated with their acceptance of management strategies. It was also found that there were significant differences among parks with different management strategies in regard to the acceptance of visitor-active management strategies. It was suggested that strenthening the environmental attitudes of visitors help promote their acceptance of management strategies. This, in turn, leads to visitors' appropriate behavior.
