    Title: XAS study of Zn-doped Al2O3 after thermal treatment??

    Abstract: This study used synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to investigate the electronic properties and coordination environment of zinc in the Zn-doped Al2O3 after thermal treatment at 500 and 1100 ?C for 2 h. Zn XANES spectra show that there is a main peak at the edge between 9665 and 9670 eV. After 500 ?C thermal treatment, zinc was in the form of ZnO. However, there is nearly 10 eV peak separation in the white band area after 1100 ?C thermal treatment suggesting the existence of chemical reaction product between ZnO and Al2O3. ? 2005 Elsevier B.V.
