Scopoletin, the derivative of coumarin, has been found to exhibit multi-curing activities. Different from other fruit juice, noni juice was found particular rich in scopoletin and its derivatives. Three other compounds with similar fluorescence to scopoletin have been identified in HPLC chromatographic profile. AU these three compounds (A, B and C) have been isolated and could be converted to scopoletin by β-glucosidase digestion. All these compounds were subjected to controlled acidic hydrolysis analysis, LC-Mass and NMR analysis. From the results of all these measurements, the chemical structures of these three compounds were tentatively identified as scopoletin 7-0-glucosyl-(6′-1?)-glucoside, scopoletin-7-O-β-glucoside (scopolin) and scopoletin 7-0-glucosyl-(6′-1?)-apioside, respectively.
