Bringing calligraphic and dancing artistic expression of body experience into Feng Chia night market's alleys and streets would be an intriguing and unique way to read the sensational feeling of the urban context. This design project has tried to re-intervene in existing disintegrated urban tissues to reintroduce a relaxing and cheerful dwelling environment full of art and literature related humanistic activities through disentangling privately owned territories. It is believed that intertwining and blurring the private and public domains could lead to a truly local oriented humanistic dwelling environment facilitating encounters and interactions among visiting tourists, temporary dwellers of university students, street vendors and shops owners, and local inhabitants, etc. The main deployed intervention strategies focus on firstly introducing scattered “spots” for daily needs of food eating, entertaining activities, gallery exhibition, neighborhood communal events, open forum debating activities, etc. Then, a “line” of community living alleys can be further linked through providing urban spaces for street vendors and local inhabitants. Finally, an “area” of a relaxing and cheerful dwelling environment can become a representing land marked image of this university-based community where one can distinguish various kinds of body experiences, such as movement permeability, static congregations, void spaces and solid volumes dialogue, slowing pace vs. fast pace, etc., which can be further referred to as calligraphic and dancing styles of performing arts.
