This subject sought to link the feminist consciousness of the media with female space. And this study was the female protagonist in the contemporary idol drama In Time with You. I studied symbol interpretation in the script to analyse the female consciousness portrayed by the show, exploring how the media markets women and what symbolic value is placed on the female body. Through the female profiles presented, I sought to interpret the environment of women and reflect on the issue of gender mainstreaming from a contemporary viewpoint. This study divided the space of female consciousness into physical space, living space, personal space and activity space of four chapters. The first deals was the whole issue image of the body displayed with the ideography of clothing and appearance, as well as physical and sensory elements; the second focus the home space;the third covers an independent bedroom and work space in the office; and the activity space refers to eating, moving, and entertainment. This study found that the contemporary female environment is conflicted by the vague and interdependent relationship of host and guest. Women adhere to stereotypical gender blueprints and subconsciously play the mainstream role of women to achieve a feeling of safety, resulting in the above-described struggle, which can sometimes lead to the host consciousness being usurped by the guest consciousness. The media creates this conflict between protagonist and other roles to highlight the autonomy of contemporary women, but ultimately turns the value of autonomy into a mainstream expectation. In interpreting autonomy, and again encountered the problem of mainstream interpretation. Overall, this study found that the contemporary woman has a considerable degree of autonomy and the ability to resist environment barriers; gender image, however, still largely conforms to mainstream expectations. Awareness of autonomous space can be weakened on the premise of harmonious coexistence.Although physical symbols have fixed criteria, women are capable of changing these existing contexts as they pursue those symbols that resonate most strongly with them. There are also specific concepts associated with the home and the status of family members. However, the home is where women feel least strongly about autonomy as they place priority on a harmonious family life, which can detract from autonomy. Women are also expected to manage food-related symbols and strive for low-calorie, tasty, nutritious food; different symbols are associated with different relationships. In summary, contemporary women are highly aware of and sensitive to symbolic meaning, demonstrating symbols of autonomy through their familiarity with and utilization of symbols. |
