This study attempts to analyze political development in Southeast Asia region through viewpoints of how structure influences actors. After the cold war, ASEAN actively pursues integration and has become its main developing direction. However, ASEAN faces impacts of China’s emergence and US power during the process which further creates a dynamic development of ASEAN political structure and ASEAN, China and US are the determining factors. Based on this background, this study views US as the existing superpower in the structure, China as the emerging superpower and intentions of each other were accounted through literature review. Finally, induction about ASEAN’s politics were made. ASEAN is adjusting its attitude according to China’s willingness to adapt to US’s leading role in the political structure, which further leads to South East Asian countries’ reliance of China and US separately on economic and security issues.
