Due to the prevalent use of e-commerce and the advancement of medical standards in recent years, a comprehensive evaluation of Taiwan’s medical service providers’ websites has increasingly become consequential. However, historical research data pertaining to our study had been deemed either inadequate or outdated, predicated on the fact that discussions on promoting the internationalization of Taiwan’s medical services were not given due consideration by the government until 2006. Utilizing applicable medical service providers’ website evaluation forms derived from historical literature review, my study primarily focused on five major constructs of assessments including interactivity, navigability, functionality, marketing, and medical tourism. Furthermore, based on the “medical service internationalization promotional project” membership list published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in January 2016, we conducted a comprehensive review of international medical service websites for a total of 63 active members, which comprised medical centers, regional hospitals, community hospitals, and local clinics in four levels. My research evidence indicated that the local clinics actively engaged in e-commerce and particularly excelled in terms of interactivity, navigability, functionality, and marketing, despite their relatively small scale of operations, whereas the medical centers and regional hospitals outperformed the other two tiers in terms of medical tourism. In summary, the study provided supporting evidence of active participation and continuing development efforts from all four tiers of medical service providers currently engaged in the promoting internationalization of Taiwan’s medical services. |
