系所簡介

化學系為本校民國44年創校時成立的7個學系之一，初創時是以大學部教育為主，採小班制教育學生，強調理論與實驗並重，
以建立良好的學識基礎，始能進入高深學理之研究，同時秉承創校「求真、篤信、力行」之精神，重視學生品行之培養。自民
國61起大學部逐年增加，直至目前每班50至60人，然教學要求仍維持原有品質，民國72年成立應用化學研究所，本系進入教
學研究並重階段，民國90 年成立博士班，使本系研究不論質與量更加提昇，也確立本系研究以生物系統為主流，為配合研究
所發展及人力需求，自民國94年起大學部增設化學生物組。本系發展大學部仍以教學為主，強調基礎理論訓練，研究所則以研
究為主，力求高品質的研究。

創系以來，在歷年本系同仁齊心努力下，教學及研究均維持相當水準，每次校外評鑑教學均獲極高評價，研究成果備受肯定。
畢業系友不論繼續深造或就業也都相當順利且獲好評，歷屆系友不少在學術界或企業界有傑出表現，其中三位系友于寬仁(第
二屆)、鄭永齊(第八屆)及劉鴻文(第十六屆)為中央研究院院士。在現有已建立的基礎上，開拓國際視野，積極延攬在國外學
術界已有卓越成就系友協助本系研究上的發展，建立獨特的研究領域，另外也與大陸卓越大學建立關係，目前與本系有實質交
流的學校有廈門大學、四川大學、山西大學及浙江大學，以加強彼此間的教學與研究的合作。

秉持重視教學之創校傳統，本系教師對所開授課程要求嚴格，除傳播化學知識外，更鼓勵學生從事專題研究，指導學生實際參
與化學領域內之研究工作。碩士班成立後，除對教學品質之要求仍未鬆懈，在研究上則更為加強，教師們依其專業領域積極投
入，並自校外爭取經費。目前本系每年投入之研究經費已超過1000萬元。本系相當重視學術交流，經常邀請校外(包括國內及
國外)學者至系上演講，每學期約10至12次，以擴展彼此間在專業知識上視野。此外亦利用旅居國外服務於工業界或學術界系
友返校訪問之際，除提供學術演講外，並與系上大學部及碩士班學生座談，得以相互切磋，讓學生吸收新的知識與經驗。
