    Abstract: 致變色材料」之定義為一化學物質可因外在環境之改變而產生顏色之變化,且此顏色之變化必須是可逆的。致變色材料的種類繁多,可簡單分為酸、熱、光、溶劑、電等等,其在民生工業上的應用亦相當廣泛,舉凡眼鏡、印刷、記憶體、光學開關、偵測器、化妝品等等,皆應用了各種不同之致變色材料。在本年度執行「設計及合成新型之潛在酸、熱及光致變色材料」計劃。本計劃分為五小項分別為:(I)設計並合成以cyanine為主體的酸、酸╱光致變色材料。(II)設計並合成以dioxobicyclic為主體的熱致變色材料。(III)設計並合成以dioxobicyclic及oxazobicyclic為主體的光致變色材料。(IV)設計並合成以1,4-naphthoquinone為主體的光致變色材料。(V)設計並合成以aziridine為主體的光致變色材料。此五小項中之(I)、(II)、(III)、(IV)項研究皆已順利完成,其中(V)因碰到困難而暫時中止。其中第I 項,亦即:「設計並合成以cyanine為主體的酸、酸╱光致變色材料」,雖未完成原先設計,但我們成功地設計並合成4-羥基香豆素衍生物,經酸鹼測試,證實其皆為新型酸致變色物(如Scheme 1所示),可分別在強酸及強鹼中變色,此結果已於2007年發表於國際期刊Molecules。其中第II項,亦即:「設計並合成以dioxobicyclic為主體的熱致變色材料」,我們成功地合成出所設計之化合物,皆有預期之熱致變色性質,然而其結構仍有待X-ray 晶體確認,加熱變色之產物結構仍有待變溫NMR 確認之(Scheme 2)。其中第III 項,亦即:「設計並合成以dioxobicyclic及oxazobicyclic為主體的光致變色材料」,我們合成出之化合物有些具光致變色性質(如Scheme 3所示),有些則無,此部份研究結果,正撰寫論文準備發表於國際期刊當中。部份合成結果已發表於今年之Tetrahedron Letters。其中第IV項,亦即:「設計並合成以1,4-naphthoquinone為主體的光致變色材料」,我們合成出之化合物並無預期之光致變色性質,但卻可充作氧化還原開闢,此結果已發表於國際期刊European Journal of OrganicChemistry。其中第V項,因本項子計劃執行上,碰到困難而暫時中止,未再作進一步探討。以上研究結果將有助於新型酸、熱、光致變色材料之研發,未來亦可應用於各類化學工業,如光學記憶體及光學開關等等。
    In our efforts in design and synthesis of potential photochromic, solvatochromic, thermochromic and acidichromic compounds, we have focused on the following five separate topics as proposed in the grant application: (I). Design and synthesis of potential cyanine-base acidichromic and acidichromic╱photochromic colorants. (II). Design and synthesis of potential dioxobicycle-based thermochromic colorants. (III).Design and synthesis of potential dioxobicycle and oxazobicycle-based photochromic colorants. (IV). Design and synthesis of potential 1,4-naphthoquinone-based photochromic colorants. (V). Design and synthesis of potential aziridine-based photochromic colorants. We have finished (I), (II), (III), and (IV) of our proposed studies. Some of the results have been published on international journals;1-3 some have been submitted for publication.
