Tunghai University. Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering (CME) at Tunghai University offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical and materials Engineering. It was originally named the Department of Chemical Engineering and was founded in 1955 with BS program. The MS and PhD programs were initiated in 1990 and 2000, respectively. The students admitted each year are 120 undergraduates in two classes, 34 graduates including 30 in MS and 4 in PhD programs. Total enrollments, as of February2009, are 515 students.
Thirteen full-time faculties, all holding PhD degrees in either chemical or materials engineering, are taking care of all core courses teaching. Teaching excellence, profound research, and industrial services are always emphasized. Several distinguished adjunct professors from industries and research institutes are invited to share their invaluable experiences in various application courses. The CME program is accredited by the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) in 2008.
Department features:
The department building is spacious and multi-functional to provide the students and faculty an intimate atmosphere such that an immediate assistance and guidance are accomplished.
The Department is in close touch with industries to render students with necessary field trips and sufficient opportunities for summer interns.
The departmental alumni association is very supportive with research grant, career information, and financial support for needed students.
Special topics on various research programs in materials processing, biotechnology, and process design and development provide excellent opportunities for career training.
