Tourism is an industry providing leisure functions and services. At the climax of tourism nowadays, sightseeing is considered a kind of recreational activities and has even become a part of life. Tourists can truly experience local features of sights by walk, and have different behavior according to various street layouts of the areas. In order to present a pleasant entertainment environment, street layouts need to combine local characteristics with convenience. A well-designed street layout not only facilitates interaction between tourists and environment but also promotes local culture and distinctive tourism effectively. This research investigates tourists’ attitude toward appealing factors of a variety of streets, such as NanTun Old Street, JingMing 1st Street and Tunghai Arts Street, which differ from their availability of arcades, sidewalks, seats and paving. It aims to find out key elements of street layout design as a future guideline of tourism area. Street features and layouts are examined by Naturalistic Observation and those reasons why those streets are formed are analyzed by the way of studying in related literatures. And then a survey clarifying what attractions of sights are and how those factors affect tourists’ visiting experience is conducted.According to Kano’s model and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), it is suggested that safety of sights and convenience for parking should be considered in the first place for street planning. Moreover, wide and smooth street pavements are essential, and removal of obstacles and uneven road improvement are required for the disabled. It is also necessary to provide enough public facilities, such as chairs, lamps, shelters, maps and indicators, and safety facilities should be placed conspicuously. In terms of streetscape design, it is significant that raising trees and plants along streets and setting public arts according to its local features at the entrance would increase tourism charm.
