簡介：

東海大學化學工程學系創立於民國四十四年，民國七十九年設立碩士班，八十九年博士班成立。每年招收大學部新生兩班計120名，碩士班研究生30人，博士班研究生5人，全系所學生共540餘人。將於九十七學年度更名為「化學工程與材料工程學系」。 目前專任老師有 13 位，皆具有博士學位，學有專精，負責本系專業課程之教授及學生輔導。除此之外尚有4位兼任教師來自工業界及研究單位，為學生帶來不同領域之經驗，使理論與實際互相印證，除使學生更了解基礎學理，並開創更多就業機會。

   4. 食品廢水或廢棄物回收再利用之研究
   5. 毒性有機化合物生物分解

   本所規劃了下列九大研究專題，以配合國內化學工業之發展。
   1. 程序控制(特別是整廠控制)
   2. 程序最適化(含Process Flow sheets之最適化)
   3. 程序合成(如熱交換網路、反應器網路、蒸餾系列等之合成)
   4. 程序模式化
   5. 共沸蒸餾與反應蒸餾等製程之研究與發展
   6. 人工智慧之應用
   7. 批式製程之設計與操作
   8. 製程能源節約與管理
   9. 清潔生產與開發
   
   
   　　「材料工程」、「生化工程」與「製程及能源工程」等之研發最近十年來受到許多先進國家的重視。為提昇國內化學工業的教育水準，本研究所在多年前已進行了此方面之教學與研究。並以此為研究主題，並期許此研究主題能提高國內化工技術，根據未來發展方向以落實產業及人才培訓之原則.

　　因化學工程基礎教育的多元性，使得畢業學生擁有強而有力的選擇與適應能力，能夠在許多各種不同科技領域之就業市場中競爭。本系所畢業生在就業方面均廣受各大公司或研究機關之歡迎，各就其專長，主要可有以下之發展方向：

   選擇進入國內外研究所深造、或是投入研究室從事新技術之研發，將科學家的研究成果從實驗室帶到工廠，使這些成果大眾化，讓全人類享用。

   除了傳統之化學工業、石化工業、材料工業、纖維工業外，其他如半導體工業、電子資訊工業、醫藥工業、生物技術、機械工業、環保產業等，亦有相當寬廣的發展空間。

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering (CME) at Tunghai University offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical and materials Engineering. It was originally named the Department of Chemical Engineering and was founded in 1955 with BS program. The MS and PhD programs were initiated in 1990 and 2000, respectively. The students admitted each year are 120 undergraduates in two classes, 34 graduates including 30 in MS and 4 in PhD programs. Total enrollments, as of February2009, are 515 students.

Thirteen full-time faculties, all holding PhD degrees in either chemical or materials engineering, are taking care of all core courses teaching. Teaching excellence, profound research, and industrial services are always emphasized. Several distinguished adjunct professors from industries and research institutes are invited to share their invaluable experiences in various application courses. The CME program is accredited by the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) in 2008.

Department features:

1. The department building is spacious and multi-functional to provide the students and faculty an intimate atmosphere such that an immediate assistance and guidance are accomplished.
